I did my self portrait with postcards too! I collect them where I travel and have that some photo in front of the Trevi foundation (if you actually there, I can’t tell if the background was the same photo as the portrait).
I like the idea but I think that it gets slightly lost in the final composition. the placement of the wallet, AirPods, and red bull look forced. they look like they were definitely placed for this photo. I think you should rearrange the items (maybe include even more) to try to attain a random look to the placements even though in reality everything will be on purpose. aim for this being a snapshot of your desk where you just haphazardly throw your things, not an organization of all the important items you want in your portrait.
Nick – I think you made some thoughtful decisions with the arrangement of the desk items, particularly with the punctuation of the color. I appreciate the variations!
