  1. I love the textural pattern of the background in the second picture! At the same time, though, I feel like the other one has some really cool aspects to it as well.

  2. I also like the tactile quality of the background in the ABC design. I would consider enlarging the foreground elements to better divide the figure/ground space or explore various crops.

There is some nice graphic concision in the O piece and I like the alternation of value in the stroke. Perhaps try some other options for the A-Z text rectangle,.

  3. I think the O design is very strong. it read like a logo or company design to me and feels very cohesive. it is strong in that it is not to busy, which is where this project gets hard.

I’m curious about changing the block letters also. what if you changed the order of the letters? the sequence of “hijkl” being so vertical and close to gather in comparison to other letters, it almost feels as if they are squishing together and the sequence is “waves”.

this might be a trick on the eyes, but is the divide from black to white a continuous vertical line? it doesn’t look like the edge of the black rectangle pieces align. I only noticed by looking at it for a while, but I think that small change of making the line continuous/align in the same vertical would help to activate the O.
